Australian King Kong stage musical opens in June

Just in time to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the original King Kong comes news about a musical stage-play version. Five years in the making, the show is set to premiere in Melbourne on May 28, complete with a six-meter animatronic Kong (the same company did the How to Train Your Dragon and Walking With Dinosaurs arena shows, so hopefully it has some other Skull Island critters as well). That’s got to present an issue with any hopes of the show going on the road, but I’m sure fans around the world would love to see it.

via fearnet, who call this the first King Kong musical, completely forgetting 1998’s The Mighty Kong. Perhaps that’s for the best.
