More on Kamen Rider Gaimu

It’s difficult to sort real news from runaway rumors, but now it does appear that the upcoming Kamen Rider Gaimu will be using a fruit motif. The series director is Ryuta Tasaki (who directed Kamen Riders Agito, Ryuki, 555, Den-oh, Kiva, Decade, W, and OOO, along with a handful of other projects including Sh15uya, Gamera the Brave, and Akibaranger), but the word that’s getting all the buzz is writer Gen Urobuchi.

I think Urobuchi is overrated, personally: he made a big name for himself with the fan-favorite show Puella Magi Madoka Magica (which in turn drew inspiration from Kamen Rider Ryuki), but also wrote Black Lagoon (which I think plays like a Mary Sue story), Gargantia on the Verderous Planet (which wasted a lot of potential towards the end), and Fate Zero (based on the inexplicably popular porn game). I know I’m in the minority about this, but hopefully his Rider series comes out better… or at least doesn’t feel like it was written by executives at Bandai.

The show starts October 6. later than usual due to Kamen Rider Wizard‘s high episode count.
